A Romarinho second half header settled a five-goal thriller at Hamdan bin Rashid Stadium as Al Jazira returned to winning ways in matchweek 6 of the Arabian Gulf League.

All seemed to be going well for the reigning champions when they scored the first goal of the game through Khalfan Mubarak in the 27th minute of the game. Last season's young player of the year broke through Hatta's lines and struck the ball from outside the box and past Obaid Thani into the net.

It didn't take Hatta long to get back into the game, when a nice breakthrough on the left flank just four minutes after Mubarak's goal allowed them to play a low cross into Maher Al Balooshi who initially failed to score with his first attempt, but managed to tap-in on the rebound.

The momentum from Al Balooshi's goal put Hatta in the driving seat before half time, and they continued their dominance with a goal in the first few seconds of the second half when a long ball played into the Hatta attack reached Ali Khaseif. The Al Jazira goalkeeper failed to catch the ball, letting it slip after bumping into his own teammate, before Fernando Gabriel took advantage of the situation and scored into the open net.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi responded six minutes later when a cross reached the head of Ahmed Al Hashmi, who slotted it nicely into the net after it bounced off the bar to bring Al Jazira level.

Summer signing Romarinho settled matters for the visitors after he took advantage of yet another accurate Al Jazira cross, heading past the Hatta goalkeeper on the far corner of his net in the 68th minute.

This win is Al Jazira's first since their victory over Ajman in matchweek 1. The result brings them up temporarily to fifth place with eight points. Meanwhile Hatta remain stuck in the relegation zone with just three points in six games.
