Al Jazira concluded their Group B campaign in the Arabian Gulf Cup with a 2-0 win over Al Dhafra at Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium on Friday, sealing their qualification to the next stage of the competition.
Both teams entered the final matchweek aiming to snatch the full mark to secure a spot in the competition’s quarter-final stage.
The game started with a bang, as Al Jazira opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Nacer Barazite, who received Sebastien Siani's defence-splitting long through pass before drilling the ball past Al Dhafra's Khaled Al Senaani.
Less than ten minutes later, Abdalla Bekheet advanced towards the box and squared the ball to Ernest Asante, whose right-footed shot went just wide off the right post.
The Western Knights, who still had hopes to qualifiy to the next round, pushed forward in the second half, hoping to score an equalizer. However, their efforts lacked accuracy as Al Jazira's 1-0 advantage remained. 
During injury time, Leonardo Pereira secured the full three points for the Pride of Abu Dhabi as he finished Sultan Al Shamsi's through ball into the top corner after a well-built counter attack.
Following their final game in the group stage, Al Jazira managed to secure their spot in the quarter-final. The Pride of Abu Dhabi finished in third place with 10 points. Meanhwhile, Al Dhafra failed to make it to the next round as they finished fifth with just seven points after suffering their third cup defeat.
