Al Fateh claimed their first-ever win in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday, comfortably beating UAE side Al Jazira 3-1 thanks to a brace from forward Ali Al Zaqan.
Al Zaqan gave his side an early boost when some neat footwork and a low shot found the corner of the net after 12 minutes to open the scoring. However, Al Jazira pulled level five minutes before half-time through Ali Mabkhout.
The parity did not last long, however, with Hamad Al Juhaim restoring the hosts lead with a powerful header from a Tawfiq Buhumaid cross just moments before the interval.
Al Zaqan added to the advantage just five minutes after the break with a sumptuous free-kick finding the top corner to give his side breathing space.
It proved enough to move Al Fateh to five points from their three Group B fixtures to date. Al Jazira are yet to get off the mark with three defeats from their three outings.
