Lucas Pimenta's goal made the difference as Al Wahda snatched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Al Jazira, Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 15 of the Arabian Gulf League on Sunday night.

It took Al Wahda 27 minutes to create the first chance, when Mohammed Al Menhali squared the ball towards Sebastian Tagliabue, whose first time effort failed to hit the target.

The Clarets' efforts finally paid off in the 35th minute, as they took the lead through Lucas Pimenta, who converted Tahnoon Al Zaabi's cross into the back of Ali Khaseif's net.

The visitors continued to impress, when Paul Mpoku found Ismael Matar in a dangerous zone. The veteran controlled the ball, but his right footed shot was brilliantly parried away by Khaseif just five minutes after the restart.

20 minutes ahead of the fulltime whistle, Khaseif pulled off another excellent save to deny Al Wahda from extending their lead. Tagliabue got at the end of a long through pass, but his low strike was stopped by the goalkeeper.

In the dying moments of the game, Matar hit the woodwork twice in a span of just two minutes as Al Wahda failed to score further goals ending the game as a 1-0 victory for the Clarets.

The win takes Al Wahda to the fifth spot with 26 points and will host Bani Yas on the 6th of February. On the other hand, Al Jazira remain fourth with 27 points ahead of their difficult encounter against league leaders Shabab Al Ahli.
