Al Jazira left it late to see off a stubborn Hatta side but return to the top of the Arabian Gulf League table courtesy of an injury-time winner from Ali Mabkhout to claim a 1-0 victory at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Round 11. Henk Ten Cate's side now have one point more than second-placed Al Wasl, sitting top with 26, whilst Hatta remain on 15 points despite their valiant effort.

In a goalless first half it was the hosts who shaded much of the possession and chances, but Hatta defended astutely to deny any opportunities. With the game looking to be heading for a goalless draw after continued determined defending from the visitors in the second half, it was deep into the six signalled minutes of stoppage time that Al Jazira finally found their breakthrough. Hatta full-back Mahmoud Hassan was penalised for a handball just outside the area, and it was the League's top scorer Ali Mabkhout who stepped up to smash a free kick into the far corner of Obaid Raihan's net to take a late, late lead with his 15th League goal of the season. Still not giving up hope, Hatta had an excellent chance to equalise in the very last minute of added time but Samuel Rosa's cross-goal strike crashed back off the far post, and the hosts hung onto all three points.
