Just a minute later, though, Al Jazira were back on level terms as Khalfan Mubarak found an instant equaliser to make it 1-1 in the 9th minute with a sweet finish into the top corner from just outside the area. Al Jazira were the side to then take the lead, getting their noses in front in the 35th minute courtesy of a sublime curling free kick from Thiago Neves to give them an advantage at the half-time break.
Into the second half Al Wasl's chance to get something from the game was boosted in the 74th minute as a foul in the area by their former player Salem Abdul's earned a red card for him and a penalty for the visitors. Fabio de Lima was the man to step up and confidently convert the spot-kick, levelling proceedings at 2-2 in the 76th minute to guarantee a share of the spoils for the two sides.
