Al Jazira 5:1 Dibba. AGL. Match Summary

News 4 Feb. 2016
Al Jazira came back from a goal down to complete a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Dibba in Round 17 of the Arabian Gulf League, featuring a hat-trick from Emirati striker Ali Mabkhout. Kenwyne Jones and Ahmed Alattas were also on target at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium to move Al Jazira onto 19 points, whilst Dibba remain above their opponents on 21 despite the heavy defeat.
It was the visitors Dibba who opened the scoring after 22 minutes as a header on from Bilal Najjaren was slotted under the body of Ali Khaseif and into the back of the net by Boris Kabi. Just after the half-hour mark Dibba goalkeeper Humaid Abdulla came out to make a crucial save and deny Ali Mabkhout an equaliser, but by the 33rd minute Mabkhout had found a leveller with a header from Thiago Neves’ corner to make it 1-1. By the 42nd minute Al Jazira had turned things around; Neves again the provider for Mabkhout to hit his 12th League goal of the season with a fine finish to make it 2-1 just before the interval. Mabkhout then turned provider in the second half as Al Jazira went 3-1 up; Kenwyne Jones turning deftly a full 360-degrees around the ball before striking low into Humaid Abdulla’s net. Jones’ replacement Ahmed Alattas then added a 4th goal for the hosts, thrashing a confident finish past Humaid Abdulla to make it 4-1 in the 87th minute, adding to the scoreline just four minutes after coming on as a substitute. Ali Khaseif was called into late action to make a flying save, turning Bakary Kone’s well-struck free kick behind for a corner, but it was Al Jazira who had the last say as a poor clearance from a backpass to goalkeeper Humaid Abdulla fell straight at the feet of Makbhout, whose striker’s instinct took over as he fired home a hat-trick to round off a resounding 5-1 victory.
