Al Jazira Collects Valuable Point from Al Ahli

Dubai: 5 December 2013
Al Jazira returned to Abu Dhabi from their visit to Rashid Stadium in Dubai with a valuable point gained it after their draw with their hosts Al Ahli, in the match that had been played at the night of Thursday the 5th of December as part of the 9th round of the Arabian Gulf League.
The startup line consisted of Ali Khaseif, Khalid Sabil, Musallaem Fayez, Abdullah Jumaa, Abdullah Musa; Khamis Ismail and Hyung Min Chin; Abdelaziz Barrada, Ahmed Rabee, Ricardo Oliveira and Nelson Valdez.
The two teams started that match with cautious and patience in building the attacks and keeping the ball; Al Jazira stayed content in the back and Al Ahli pushed forward and they created 3 clear scoring chances wasted by Grafite, Al Hammadi and Ciel, who used a misunderstanding between khaseif and Jumaa and shot towards the empty goal, but his ball missed the net by only centimeters in the 21st minute. In the 26th Abdulaziz Hussain received the first yellow card in the match when he roughly tackled Abdulaziz Barrada.
After the first 30 minutes passed, Al Jazira decided to move forward, Hyung Min Chin and Oliveira tried their luck by long distance shots, the latter shot cleared by the goalkeeper to a corner and this corner led to Aja goal scored by Jumaa Abdullah for Al Jazira in the 32nd minute.
After this goal Al Jazira defended their backline with discipline and aggressiveness, and denied Al Ahil chances to equalize the score, until the first half ended after only 1 added minute.
In the second half Al Jazira came out of the blocks looking to extend their lead, as Ricardo Oliveira launched one from outside the box three minutes after the restart, but soon Al Ahli stepped up a gear with the advantage of the incessant home support behind them.
The equalizer Al Ahli had been threatening was soon to come, and in quite some style as Ciel hit a tremendous first-time finish with his left after a neat set-up from Grafite to make it 1-1 in the 59th minute. Al Ahli continued in the ascendancy as Ciel flashed a low cross invitingly into the box moments later, but Grafite just couldn’t stretch enough to get a touch as he raced towards goal.
Al Jazira had not given up though, and in the 80th minute Al Ahli goalkeeper Saif Yousif made a crucial stop to keep out Ricardo Oliveira. Al Ahli quickly broke away and the fans were cheering as it appeared Grafite had turned Ismaeel Al Hammadi’s fizzed cross over the line, but it was in fact the Red Knights’ captain who ended up in the back of the net and the ball rippled the side-netting.
Al Ahli felt aggrieved in the 88th minute when a handball appeal was waved away in the box, but they got the goal they had been looking for in the first minute of extra time through a piece of fine individual skill and persistence by Grafite. The statuesque Brazilian striker picked up the ball on the left and danced between Al Jazira’s defenders, cutting inside before stroking a composed finish across the face of goal and in at the far post.
The drama didn’t end there, as Al Jazira immediately hit back from the kick-off, with the other Brazilian captain on the pitch netting a 2-2 equaliser in dramatic fashion as Ricardo Oliveira thumped home with virtually the last kick of the game to take a share of the points.
