News
Dubai: 27 March 2014

Al Jazira shared the points with their hosts Al Nasr when they met them in Al Maktoum Stadium in the evening of Thursday the 27th of March and drew with them negatively in the 21st week of the Arabian Gulf League.

Walter Zenga started the match with Khalid Al Senani; Salim Masoud, Jumaa Abdullah, Musallem Fayez and Abdullah Musa; Hyungmin Shin and Jucilei Da Silva; Hassan Amin, Abdulaziz Barrada and Ali Mabkhout; and Felipe Caicedo.

The team missed in today match Humaid Al Mas and Yaqub Al Hosani for injuries; and the suspended duo Khamis Ismail and Salim Ali.

The match started with high tempo and enthusiastic performance from the two teams but there was no real dangerous on the two goals.

In the 10th minute Abdulaziz Barrada fell on the ground on pain and failed to continue playing and forced his coach to replace him with Abdullah Qasem in the 12th minute, and Zenga found himself without his best scorer and goal creator for the rest of the match.

The ball remained away from the two keeper until the 23th minute when Qasem struck the ball from outside the area but his shot blocked by Khalifa Ibrahim and went to unused corner kick.

The shot followed by another one from Hassan Amin and moved the net of the Al Nasr goal but the outside one; and then another one from Jucilei Da Silva and it touched the post before went out.

After he added 2 extra minutes, the referee Yaqub Al Hammadi ended the first half with negative draw between the two teams.

The start of the second half saw a flurry of action as Al Nasr goalkeeper was called upon twice in quick succession; first to make an important low stop keeping Felipe Caicedo’s shot from creeping in, and secondly to block Ali Mabkhout from close range when the UAE striker went streaming through on goal.

At the other end Hassan Mohamed got a good shot away but Al Senaani was able to save at the near post, and in the 56th minute Al Nasr almost broke the deadlock but Habib Al Fardan and Alhusain Saleh both saw their shots blocked on the line in quick succession. In the 64th minute Mahmoud Khamis delivered a more dangerous set piece aimed at Ali Al Ameri, who peeled away towards the back post and forced Juma Abdulla to hack the ball away behind his own goal.

A minute later at the other end Hassan Ameen and Caicedo almost combined to put Al Jazira ahead but the Ecuadorian striker didn’t get a strong connection on his effort and it hit the side netting. The game was marred by a straight red card for Al Jazira’s Felipe Caicedo in the final minute of injury time as the striker petulantly booted the ball at Al Nasr’s Mahmoud Hassan in frustration, and the game ended 0-0.
