Braga: Focus and Discipline are Our Weapons Against Sharjah

News
Abu Dhabi: 11 September 2015

The coach of Al Jazira team Abel Braga insisted that the theoretical superiority of his team over Sharjah will not give his players any real advantage over their opponents when they play each other in the field next Sunday, and insisted that his team needs to prove that they are the best by winning matches, not by being favorites for critics and analysts.

Speaking in the pre match press conference, the coach said “The league stoppage was very useful to me, and didn’t any face any problem in keeping my players at their best physical and mental level, and let’s not forget that the international players were playing and training all this time, so what we need to do now is to help the those players to convert their concentration from the international level to the local. The other players who didn’t have any international duties were training very well and they showed great development in the latest training sessions, and the weather conditions helped us a lot, so I can say that we are ready for the important away game against Sharjah”.

“I wish we had one more day before the game so we can give our international players a better chance to recover and be ready for this round, but we will deal with this situation, and am sure that Al Jazira players are professional enough to help themselves getting through this complicated fixtures. I also have very experienced and talented players who can use their individual skills to decide the matches for us, in case we weren’t good enough physically or collectively”, he added

The manager shed some light on the physical situation of his players a head of Sunday game, and explained “We will be without Musallem Fayez because he received a direct red card in Al Wasl match, and we will have to assess Mirko Vucinic fitness situation because he just returned today from Montenegro. Khalid Sabil has recovered totally from his last injury and he is ready to play, but Salim Ali needs more time in the training field before he can play an official match, as he is still recovering from the surgeries he went through that last season. Khamis Esmail is in great shape and I don’t know why he didn’t play in the last two match with UAE National Team, and it’s not my job to know why, he joined us yesterday and trained very well and I can play him against Sharjah without any hesitation”.

Braga refused to consider his team as a favorite to collect the three points from the next game, and said “I know the media and the people are always favoring the big teams like Al Jazira, Al Ahli, Al Ain and Al Wahda to win every match, but for me this is not even real judgement and I don’t care about these nominations and expectations, what matter the most is to prove that we are the best in the field, not in the internet or the newspapers”.

The coach continued “We have amazing players who can cause a lot of problems to any team, like Mabkhout, Vucinic, Farfan and Neves, and my job is to help these players to put their potentials under the team disposal. Sharjah is great team and they have good players also, like Maxwell, and Renato, whos is very good and talented as playmaker or second striker, and they also have Paulo Bonamigo who have an amazing experience in UAE”.

He finished the conference by saying “For us it will always be the 4-3-3 style and we will not give it up, we will attack with all the players when we have the ball, and when we lose it will be very disciplined in defense. Sharjah is highly motivated because they are playing in their ground and they are also looking for their first victory in the competition, so we have to be 200% ready for them”.
