Abu Dhabi: Nov. 20, 2020
Marcel Keizer insisted that his team can adapt different playing styles depending on each match and opponent, and its not only about possession and passing game for him and his players, and he also described their upcoming game against Shabab Al Ahli as an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways in the league.
“It’s going to be a tough away game of course because Shabab Al Ahli are strong side, and they have good players who are providing their team with many attacking solutions during matches. Saturday game will be an ideal opportunity for us to make things right in the league competition after the defeat we accepted in the last round against Sharjah, and we are looking forward with excitement and enthusiasm to this important encounter”, Keizer said in the pre-game press conference.
The manager shed some light on the physical conditions of his players ahead of Saturday night game, and said “The national team players joined the trainings only today, and as usual, they return from the training camp with minor fitness issues, specially Khalifa Al Hammadi, Abdullah Ramadan, and Ali Mabkhout, because they featured in all games and spent time on the pitch more than the rest of the players. We will see how they feel today and tomorrow and we will wait until the match to take the final decisions about who will start the game”. “Omer Abdulrahman will miss Saturday game, but Thulani Serero will be available after missing the last cup game against Ittihad Kalba due to the injury he picked against Sharjah”, he continued
The Dutch coach defended his team against accusations of sticking to one playing style, he said “It’s not true that Al Jazira football style is only about possession and passing, and I believe everyone saw that how we won the three points against Bani Yas by using counter attacks as an alternative solution we possession was not an option. The quality of Al Jazira players are unique and special, and it help the team to adapt different styles, depending on each game and each opponent, and we will not hesitate to make any changes against Shabab Al Ahli if that is what it takes to return from Rashid stadium with the three points”.
