Marcel Keizer described their upcoming encounter against Al Nasr as tough and important, and hoped Ali Mabkhout and Abdullah Ramadan can be fully fit in time to join the squad and appear at the Al Maktoum stadium at Saturday night.

“We are happy about playing our first match in the league after three months of training and preparing, and I would like to thank whoever played a part in achieving this,” Marcel told the media during yesterday’s pre-game press conference.

“We are ready and motivated, and the players are fit and roaring to face Al Nasr at their stadium. Ali Khaseif picked an injury while he was in the national team camp, and we will have to wait until the last hours to see if Ali Mabkhout and Abdullah Ramadan can join their teammates and feature in the match squad”.

“Facing Al Nasr is always tough and challenging, and Saturday match will not be an exception. It will be a real test for us to see where we are now, in terms of fitness and readiness, and it the same time it will be enjoyable and thrilling for the fans behind TV’s because they will see a lot of the UAE national team players, and some of finest foreign footballers in the country,” Keizer added.

“The result of this match will not and cannot be used as an indication to our chances in winning the league this year. Its not logical and it doesn’t make any sense to predict how the title race will go based on what will happen in matchweek 1, and we will assess these chances when the right time comes”.

Milos: Players are confident and ready to go

Speaking in the second part of the conference, Milos Kosanovic insisted that the team is ready to kick off their league campaign and they are confident they can perform in high level and fight for full victories and points.

“We are excited and happy about the return of the league, and we are looking forward with great enthusiasm and concentration to the upcoming match against Al Nasr. It will be difficult because they are strong and they will play against us in their stadium, but we will be ready for this special challenge”.

“We are starting this season with the same squad from the last one, and this special situation helped us to understand each other in a better way and created a family atmosphere in the dressing room. We hope this understanding and harmony can be obvious in the way we play, and we are confident it will help us to achieve our goals and targets for this season”.
