Keizer: Fighting and Concentrations are our Weapons against Shabab Al Ahli

News
Abu Dhabi: Jan. 9, 2020

Marcel Keizer states his team must face Shabab Al Ahli with fighting spirit and concentration, to increase their chances in reaching the final of the Arabian Gulf Cup, on the 17th of this month.

Al Jazira will host the league leaders tomorrow and one of the two tickets to the final match will be at the stakes for Al Jazira, who are missing Eight players tomorrow, due to injuries and national team commitments.

Preparations for Shabab Al Ahli

We started the preparation for the semifinal right after the last game against Al Nasr. We missed the ten players who joined the UAE national teams’ training camps, but today we retrieved the players of the first national team, and we can say our tactical preparations for Friday game are started just right now.

Missing Players in the Semifinal

We will miss the injured trio Ali Khaseif, Sultan Al Ghafri and Khalfan Mubarak, in addition to Abdulrahman Al Ameri, Khalifa Al Hammadi, Mohamed Al Attas, Abdullah Ramadan, and Zayed Al Ameri, who are with the Olympic National Team in Vietnam. The rules of the competition has been made to increase the playing minutes of the youngsters, so I cannot understand why they decided to play the semifinal and final while this group of players are not available to play.

An Eye on the Opponent before the Match

Shabab Al Ahli are first in the league for a reason, they have many options up front, their midfield combination is different from ours, and of course, they have big experience in the back line. Al Jazira is also strong side, and we can’t forget the good job this team has done in the last 2 months only because we lost one game. Defeats are part of football, what’s important is how you react to them, and I believe that the next game against Shabab Al Ahli will give us a very good opportunity to react strongly to the defeat we suffered against Al Nasr last week.

More Minutes for the Young Players

You cannot ask young players to perform on top on regular basis, because they lack the necessary experiences to do so. Renner, Bruno and Rabii are very talented; they just need more time and playing minutes to find their place in the first team squad in the near future. They can take Faisal Al Matrooshi as an example, because he was in the U21 team during the last season, but now he is having more chances and he is proving himself whenever he gets the chance.
