Tough Group for Al Jazira in AFC Champions League

The draw of the AFC Champions League for season 2013 – 2014, which took place at AFC House in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur at Tuesday the 10th of December, put Al Jazira in Group A, with Iranian Esteghlal, Qatari Al Rayyan and Saudi Al Shabab.
 
The executive office of the Asian Federation continued adopting the two areas system (east and west); each geographic area consists of 16 teams divided into 4 groups, 14 teams of these has qualified directly to this stage, and two of them will qualify after the playoffs. The final match will also be home-and-away match, so that the final match will see a team from the east area compete for the title with another team from the west.
 
Al Jazira qualified directly to this stage of the competition by finishing third in the last season league. Esteghlal qualified for being the crowned champions of the Iranian league last season and now they are in the 4th rank in the league behind the leader with 4 points. Al Rayyan qualified for being the 4th place team by the end of last season Qatari league, and Al Shaba reached this group stage after he finished their local league in the third place in the last season.
 
The first matches of AFC Champions League for this season will kick off at the 25th of February of the next year 2014.
