Al Jazira and Al Nasr played out a tense goalless draw at the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek three of the ADNOC Pro League on Saturday.

The result extends Al Nasr’s unbeaten run to three matches but halts their momentum, with Al Ameed dropping their first two points in the title race.

For Al Jazira, it was another frustrating day as they followed up their opening-day defeat with a second draw, leaving them with just four points from their first three fixtures.

Al Jazira looked the brighter side in the early exchanges and nearly found the breakthrough inside 13 minutes.

New signing Ibrahim Adel picked up possession on the right flank, danced past his marker with superb footwork, and cut into the area, only to see his curling effort rise just over the bar.

Al Nasr responded midway through the half when Serbian midfielder Luka Milivojevic met a cross with a powerful header that rattled the crossbar, leaving goalkeeper Ali Khaseif rooted to the spot.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi pressed again before the interval through Adel, who once more showcased his direct style.

The Egyptian winger surged into the box and delivered a dangerous low cross that caused chaos in the Al Nasr defence.

Mamadou Coulibaly’s effort was blocked, before Koffi Koublan’s follow-up was also smothered in stoppage time, ensuring the teams went into the break level.

Both managers rang the changes in the second half in search of a winner, but the contest turned into a midfield battle with few clear-cut chances.

Despite the energy from the stands, neither side managed to carve open a decisive opportunity as the match fizzled out in the closing stages.

The draw lifts Al Nasr into second place on seven points, while Al Jazira sit eighth with four points.
