Keizer Urges More Al Jazira Fans to Rally behind the Team against Al Wahda
Abu Dhabi: Jan. 13, 2022
Marcel Keizer has urged more Al Jazira fans to attend the Zayed Sports City stadium ahead of Saturday clash with Al Wahda as part of the quarterfinals of the UAE President Cup. Al Jazira coach believes his side may be physically affected by playing six tough matches in a very short period of time, and he urged the supporters to turn up and get behind the Super Cup champions.
“I hope to see a lot of fans on Saturday at Zayed Sports City,” said Keizer during the pre-game press conference. “The team played six games in a very short period of time and this situation affects us of course, and that’s why we need our supporters to rally behind us because they can give the players the extra motivations they need to give their best and fight even harder to win and qualify to the semifinals of the important competition”.
“We faced Al Wahda a couple of weeks ago, it was a tight game and I expect the same on Saturday night. The two teams are good and they are playing very good football, and I am sure the match will be exciting for the fans. No one can guess the outcome of such a match, it’s a derby and a knockout fixture, and I believe the identity of the winner will be only revealed after the last whistle”.
“I am very proud of the young players and happy with how they performed when they got the chance to defend the club badge in the Super Cup and also against Al Wasl. When the injured and absent players return to the squad I will have more options for the lineup, and this is a very positive situation for me as a coach”.
Mohamed Jamal, the defensive central midfielder, described the match against Al Wahda as very important and crucial. He said “It’s a derby cup game, and it’s against Al Wahda, our closest rival, and the loser will be eliminated from the President Cup. All these facts make the game crucial and important, and I hope we emerge victorious at the end of it and celebrate with our fans in the stadium with the victory and the qualification”.
