Hendriksen: ADIB Cup is an Important Competition for Al Jazira
Abu Dhabi: Oct. 9, 2022
Roy Hendriksen, the assistant coach of Al Jazira team, insisted his team is planning to go as far as possible in Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, and described the competition as important for the club and team, and stated that they will kick off their campaign in the competition against their hosts Dibba with the best possible lineup.
Al Jazira will travel to Fujairah to face Dibba in the first match of the first round of the ADIB Cup, only three days after their League game against Sharjah, and only three days before their anticipated match against Shabab Al Ahli in Dubai in the League also, and Roy warned they will have to take the fitness levels of the players into consideration during this tough week.
“We were disappointed because we didn’t win against Sharjah but at the same time we were proud of the strong performance we put in against such a strong team despite missing some important players,” said Roy during the pre-match press conference. “Now we will face a different opponent in a different competition, but we will have to play with the same intensity and mentality as we did against Sharjah. We will have to consider the fitness situation of all the players because we played a tough game against Sharjah, and we will play a tougher game against Shabab Al Ahli in Dubai, only three days after Dibba match, but of course, will start the match against Dibba with the best possible eleven players, and we will face them with clear intention to perform well and return to Abu Dhabi with a victory”.
“This competition is very important to the club because it gives the young players, and the substitutes, a very good chance to play at the top level and gain the necessary experience they need to help the team whenever it’s needed. We will see the players today, evaluate their fitness and physical condition, and then make decisions about the lineup for Dibba game, but in any case, will face them with the best and stronger possible squad, and we have all the confidence in all the players to give their best and help the team to achieve victory”.
